Isobutyl Methacrylate (IBMA) is an important acrylate compound, which has good flexibility, weather resistance and chemical stability.

  • Density: about 0.92 g/cm³ (20℃)
  • Solubility: Soluble in most organic solvents (such as alcohol, ether, ketone, etc.), but insoluble in water

  • Refractive index: about 1.41 (20℃)

Applications

  • Synthetic resin:
    • Used for the production of polyisobutyl methacrylate (PIBMA)
    • With good flexibility and weather resistance
    • Suitable for paint and plastic products
    • Often copolymerized with other monomers (such as styrene, methyl methacrylate)
  • Paint:
    • Used in the production of latex paint, solvent-based paint
    • Gives the paint good flexibility and weather resistance
  • Adhesive:
    • Used for pressure sensitive adhesive, emulsion adhesive production
    • With good bonding properties and flexibility
    • Suitable for bonding various materials
  • Textile additives:
    • Used for textile coating finishing
